A moment can be defined as a point in space and time. And Openbook’s rebranding is all about time and space for progress. It has been 16 years since it was founded as an Architecture atelier until the space-oriented group of companies it is today. A growth in experience, size and portfolio.

It was the way we envision a moment in space that inspired the logo’s typography, to begin with. It can be perceived as a perspective, the intersection between physical, conceptual and creative spaces, crossing different business areas – Architecture, Interior Design, Real Estate, Engineering, and Wayfinding Design –, representing Openbook as we know it today, a space where different worlds independently coexist and collide to create relevant spatial solutions.

Since the beginning, Openbook has been blurring Architecture lines and elevating space notions as one of the most influent companies in Portugal. Space as openness to change and evolve; as freedom to choose new directions and learn more; and as the unknown it is drawn to build. More than the business epitome, space represents the collective aspiration and ambition, without giving up individuality.

Spatial depth creates the optical illusion around these three planetary dimensions. Every world has the same dimension when we explore different perspectives, just like each business area has the same strength and space within the Openbook structure – the perception we want to generate around the new brand. The proximity degree defines the creation system of the different logo versions.

“OOO” or “…” or the “dots” represent endless possibilities and become a brand symbol in the Openbook universe. And there is no limit to the visual representations it can assume to state different business areas, messages or moments. As a brand symbol, the dots help to fill the empty spaces. In its simplest graphic way, it represents a powerful simplicity to boost our senses. They are a visual brand signature and represent ambition, “always more”.

The collision between different worlds is the synergy that creates interactions between people and spaces. In the brand signature “Space x Expertise”, the “x” represents an element that enhances every brand value and absorbs everything Openbook represents. We call it the coefficient of multidisciplinarity.

The main brand reflects this concept and the sub-universes (representing each business area) are a result of this main universe. To enhance each world’s individuality and easily tell them apart, we represented them in different ways, using specific acronyms and proprietary elements and colors.
